Our Mission

Total Word Counter exists to give every writer, student, and professional a reliable text analysis tool that respects their privacy. Counting words shouldn't mean uploading your draft to a third-party server, accepting cookies, or signing up for an account. Every feature on this site works entirely inside your browser — nothing ever leaves your device.

What We Offer

We built Total Word Counter to go beyond a simple word tally. In one place you get:

  • Real-time counts for words, characters (with and without spaces), sentences, paragraphs, lines, and estimated pages
  • Reading & speaking time with adjustable words-per-minute so you can plan presentations or blog posts with confidence
  • Readability analysis using the Flesch Reading Ease score and grade-level estimate
  • File uploads — paste text or drop in a PDF, DOCX, TXT, CSV, or PPTX file for instant parsing
  • Voice typing to dictate text and watch counts update live
  • Multilingual support for English, Hindi, and 10+ other languages
  • Dark mode for comfortable use in any environment

Privacy by Design

We made a deliberate choice: Total Word Counter will never touch your text on a server. All parsing, counting, and analysis runs in your browser using standard JavaScript APIs and open-source libraries (Mozilla PDF.js for PDFs, mammoth.js for Word documents). Your content stays private—we use Google Analytics to understand site usage, but your text content is never sent to our servers or any analytics service.

You can verify this yourself by opening your browser's Network tab while using the tool. You will see exactly zero upload requests.
